haven't worked on my mermaid.. :|

wellll.... i haven't worked on my mermaid in like... forever!!... but i have been doing some cross stitching.. the girl at my cross stitch shop asked me to do a shop model for her... and i've been pretty much working just on that... it's a Stoney Creek pattern called... Winter in the Village..  there is a series of 4 seasonal village pictures...  my goal is to finish this one up before the end of the year and then get back to my mermaid!!..  since no one has been posting their mermaids in a while... didn't think anyone would mind if i posted what i'm currently working on...

ok... i was the last one to post on this blog and that was more than a month ago...where is everyone??...  i know i'm kinda sorta not doing as much as i should on my girls... but what about the rest of you??... is anyone still working on theirs??... 

Nicki... i know you SAID you were gonna bring your mermaid with you on vacation to the lake... but why do i have this feeling she went for the ride and didn't get worked on??????... lol.. (that's what i do with my projects when i take them on holiday)..

anyway... here's my updated picture of the Mermaids of the Deep Blue..  i didn't do a whole lot on her but i did get the fin on the girl on the left..  so that's a little progress..  i'll try to work harder on her in the next few weeks...

well i think my mojo is starting to come back.. at least a little.. i actually picked up my mermaid and did a little on her this week... not enough for a picture yet... but.. some.. lol... hopefully by next weeks posting i'll have something to show..    i even got up to the studio this weekend and worked on a couple of quilting projects too....

now ... the question is... how do i hold onto it??...  we go to Vegas on the 7th... and.. i'm afraid my mojo will decide to take another vacation too... lol... unfortunately... when it takes a vacation... it tends to take weeks and weeks.. and i can't afford to do that.. i have too much to do... i still have to make my dad's quilt for christmas.. as well as a bunch of other stuff..

Elaine... send me a pic of your little pixie..  (and your mermaid if you've done anything more on her lately.. ) i'll post that on here for you...  this blog doesn't have to be just for the mermaid cross stitch..  we can do other cross stitch things ... as well as some quilting stuff too...  it's just a ... for US blog.. so.. as far as i'm concerned... anything goes.. :D

Nicki... don't forget to pack your mermaid to go on vacation with you... that might be the only time you'll get to work on her for a while.. lol..  then post a pic...  let us see how she looks..

Patti... i want your Bali star quilt when you're done... you know my address... lol... it is absolutely breathtaking!!... i love it!... as for what cross stitch pic to start... well since you don't want to get tooo far ahead of us with your mermaids... why don't you start the christmas santa one.. hell at the rate the rest of us are going on our mermaids... and the speed you stitch at... you'll probably finish the santa one  before we get our first mermaids done... lol..

I Got Plenty Of Nuttin Too!!!

Hi Ladies,

I have to say that since Mikki arrived a month ago I haven't touched any xstitch at all. Do you know that a 12 week old puppy can unroll an entire roll of toilet paper all over the house in the time it takes to take a 5 minute shower!!!!!!!!!!! She's keeping me on my toes. In addition to her I have also taken up water aerobics and am going 6 times a week. Can you say OUCH!!!!! What part of my body doesn't hurt!!!!!!!!!!!

Well even though I haven't done any xstitch I have been working on this project for the last 4 months for a class. Thought you might like to see some pics of my Paper piecing bali wedding star quilt. I hope to finish this project up in the next month or two. I still have to add all the corners and then square it up, because I am adding a flying geese border. Yes, I did say flying geese border. I know that those words are 4 letter words to Sheryl. lol

So when I finish that up I will get back to xstitching again. Shall I work on the next Mermaid or start on the Miribilia xmas project. What do you ladies think?

i'm back from my trip to NY.. it was the trip from hell!.. but i had a good time with my sister.. but with all the drama going on.. i didn't do a stitch on any of my cross stitch pics... then ... when i got home.. i got sick.. and didn't feel like doing a damn thing... so my mermaids are unchanged...  i'm hoping to finish up my "Chickens?!" picture this week and then i'll get back to my mermaids..

nicki.. i know you've been busy and your mojo is not so good either at this time.. but.. hopefully you've been able to do a little.. show us a pic so we can cheer you on..

Im plugging away at my Mermaid every night...even if it is only two or three stitches !!! She hasnt changed much in the last week or so, SOOOO...I wont post a picture this time !!

Ok... I'm a bad girl and I know it. I could come here and post a million reasons why I'm so far behind on my mermaid but then you'd get tired of listening to my excuses so I won't bother. I will tell you that I am on my second attempt... the first time I screwed up the number of stitches in a row and didn't realize it until it was too late - tried to take it out but gave up and just started a new one. The good thing is ... I have a larger piece of fabric to work with and I have all my threads. So... I will get moving on this project and make ya'll proud. Hey - ya'll should be proud of me - Elaine even offered to give me her second one that she is working on to call my own but noooooooooo I need to do this myself. Thanks Elaine!

To say the least your mermaids are looking fabulous! Patti - I can't believe you have yours done already!!!! It turned out awesome - love the beads! Oh........ and love your cute little puppy too - waaaaa I want one!

mermaids of the deep blue.. about half done..

i've been working hard on my mermaids of the deep blue.. and they are coming along... i probably more than half done now... there are hundreds and hundreds of beads on this thing... but i love the glimmer and shimmer...

i'm gonna post a close up of some of the beads in the body of the mermaids...  she just glows..  unfortunately it's kinda hard to get a good pic of them  and still let you see where they are..

i would love to see how elaines and nicki's are doing... elaine if you send me a pic... i'll post it for you... and nicki... i know you said you started over...  so you're way behind us... but we don't care... just post a pic of the blob and let us cheer you on!!...

Just thought I'd post a picture of the little sweetheart that is taking up all of my time now. Right now she's taking a nap so I can spend a little time by myself. (Thank goodness for naps!!!!!)

I had a 18 year old cairn terrier named Lady who I lost the day after xmas. I missed her very much. This is my new little girl Mikki. She is also a cairn terrier. She is 8 weeks old and weighs 2.4 lbs. How can anyone resist those eyes.

Mermaid of Atlantis- FINISHED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good Morning Ladies. I have finally finished my mermaid. Put the last few beads on this morning. I had a great time working on this. I will however, take a little time off, and let you ladies catch up. I have some other obligations to finish up on in the meantime. In addition to my new little baby Mikki. She is a sweetheart, but takes alot of time. I had forgotten what it felt like to get up at 5:30 am. How soon we forget!!!!!! Anyway I had such a good time with this one that in addition to the Mermaid of Pearl that I have I also ordered the Shimmering Mermaid and a santa claus design from Miribilia. Would love to see some pictures from some of you ladies. Take care.

Mermaid of Atlantis- Update

Hello Ladies,

Well as you can see, my mermaid is done. lol Not really. Fooled you. My mermaid's complete body is done. Have spent the last week adding the section where she is holding her treasure (whatever it is) ( I couldn't figure it out). You probably can't tell it, but it is almost all beads. Hundreds of them!!!!!!!!!!!

My next step will be to add the border, and then finish up the shell and fish in the upper right hand corner.

Nicki I sure would like to see your mermaid (hint, hint). Hope you are all getting a chance to work on yours. Would love to see pictures of your progress from all of you- even if it is a blob. You know that when blobs grow up they turn into beautiful shimmering Mermaids.

i really haven't done that much on my mermaid...  i had company last weekend for a few days... but i did a little so i'm posting it.. i did some of the beading on the mermaid on the right..   i also did some redwork for a project for my guild that i had to have done for the meeting next week.. and.. well.. other things too..  but.. no excuses... i need to work on her more.. and i will..

Mermaid of Atlantis - Coming Along

Good Evening Ladies- Well today was my birthday and I spent the whole day xstitching and beading. I have almost all of my mermaid done. Doesn't she look pretty? I still have to finish whatever it is she is holding in her arms, and the upper right hand corner with the shell and fish, and the border. I wish the picture could show you just how beautiful it really is. You just can't see all the glimmer from the beads. Now before you ladies start telling me to slow down and that I am an over achiever I just want you to know that I have alot of free time on my hands because I am on unpaid vacation until the Orchestra starts back up in July for our Summer Concerts. Believe me, I'll be back to being a slacker. lol I hope to be able to finish this one up in the next few weeks. I won't start right away on the next one. I will have some puppy training to do. Mikki arrives on the 11th, I also have some other xstitch to work on and a bali wedding star quilt for my class. I sure would love to see some pics from you ladies, even if it is a blob . (Hint, hint, Nicki)

Mermaid of Atlantis

Hello Ladies,

I did get a chance to work on my mermaid a little bit this week while I was in Gulfport, MS for my youngest son's wedding. I did have some quiet time in the hotel and I got a little bit ( and I do mean little ) done on the top portion. I hope to have some more time to work on it soon, but things are starting to get busy. I am also currently working on my Bali wedding star quilt in a class and my new puppy Mikki will be arriving 2 weeks from tomorrow. Don't expect to get much done after she arrives except to run around after her. Now I have to spend some time puppy proofing the house.

I apologize, I'm embarrassed....

Ok, not much else I can say except those leading words into this... I'm a dip ... whip me with ten wet noodles. I really am sorry that I cannot report that my mermaid is well on her way to becoming something recognizable... I have just been dealing with way too many things and trying to get tons of obligations out of the way to be able to sit and concentrate on getting ahead on this project... I promise from today on to do much better.

On a good note, Elaine and I drove down to CT Saturday to visit a couple quilt stores. We specifically went to visit Thistle Needleworks - OMG! It was the most incredible thread shop ever - I had never ever seen so many gorgeous threads, ribbons and patterns - the walls were covered in thousands of colors and tons of drawers filled. Who knew there was such a variety. I bought plenty and think I now have everything I need. I also found some very hard to find silk ribbon floss. Check the store out ThistleNeedleworks

MOTDB.. update

my turn to post an update..  my mermaid is coming along quite well... of course i messed it up.. by reading a symbol wrong and used a wrong colour.. and had to rip a bunch out.. but.. i'm back on track again... it looks to me as if i'm about half done with it...  or close to it...  i got to use another of the kreinik's... i'm gonna try to finish up the fins on the right mermaid... and then start on some of the beads...  shey..

Mermaid of Atlantis ( Mermaid Without a Face )

I've been working alot lately on my Mermaid. Spent a few hours last night attaching the beads. I am now half way done with this project. Still no face, but her tail looks great. Lots of glimmer and shimmer. I added a pic of the detailed beading. Boy that takes a long time to do. lol Will now get started on the top part of her body. Hope she's as pretty upstairs as down.

Although I am still unable to post pictures because my computer is sick, Ihave been working diligently on my mermaid....she is now a bigger blob with some sparkly thread and some more DMC colors...you still cant tell she is a mermaid..I dont stay in one place very long !!! I will take a picture and maybe one of your loverly ladies can post it for me ...Please..of course !

Mermaids of Atlantis

As of yet I have not been told to slow down on my project (lol)so I have done quite a bit of work on her. I've used 3 different metallic threads already and several of the Caron specialty threads. I'm just about ready to start adding some beads. I like where this is going. I sure would like to see some pics from Nicki ( hint, hint ). Sheryl's looks great as usual, and Elaine needs to post another beauty. Keep up the stitching Ladies!!

well here they are... aren't they beautiful??.. i am loving working on this.. and i'm finding they are actually fairly quick to do...  i did quite a bit on them this past week and i didn't feel like i really worked on them all that much..  seems like i was on the go and out the house quite a lot this past week.. i'm hoping this week to finally get into some sort of routine where i can actually get upstairs and sew again too!..  as well as work on my cross stitch..

Mermaids of Atlantis

Good Afternoon Ladies,

I have started on my Mermaids of Atlantis . This is my one week report. I am using a 28 ct. green linen called woodland. As you can see mine doesn't look like a mermaid yet. It still looks like a big green blob. How are the rest of you doing? We need to kick our butts into gear before Sheryl leaves us in the dust.

i've been working on my motdb for a week now.. so i thought i'd show you some progress.. she's actually starting to look like a mermaid.. sorta.. lol..  i love the linen i'm using for her.. and will probably buy more of it for some of the other mermaids.. 

before you think that's all i've been working on.. check my blog.. i've also worked on a few of my other cross stitch projects.. :).. of course i haven't done much sewing/quilting.. but.. i'll get to it..

I'm ready to get out of the water........

Hey goils,

I'm ready to get rolling on this project - just please, don't let me anywhere near the water - let the mermaids have it all. I'm still bailing and pumping out the basement - going on week #3! I'm so sick of it and there's just no end in sight.

Anyway, I was at Elaine's yesterday - proof that she did start her mermaid project. She bought me some green fabric to try so I am reporting on that.... I have tried it.... going to go a little bit further but still not sure I can work with it - my eyes just can't seem to get a grip on the small stitching involved and especially since it is a darker fabric than I normally have used. But... I'm going to try and if I can't make a go of it I will just start over using my Aida cloth that I had originally thought to use. Sorry girls.... I'll have to leave the linen and small stitching to you.

Shey - glad to hear you had a good time - will talk with you soon. Patti - I'm so happy that your baby is coming home soon - you must be so excited! Elaine - once again, thanks for pressuring me to spend money yesterday at the fabric store!

So girls, you wanna see why I'm just getting started on our Xstitch mermaids? Here's a peek at my front and back to the purse I am making for the CQI Purse Contest? Since none of you are involved with the Group I can show it to you - no one is suppose to see our purses until after the voting on April 15th. Just have to put it together now... believe it or not there is close to 100 hours of CQing on these blocks and no telling how many hundreds of beads! My poor fingers!

back from vacay!

well i'm back.. omg.. what a great cruise.. lots of fun and laughter.. and we went to just gorgeous islands!...

i heard from cathy (my cross stitch lady).. last nite and my fabric has come in.. but i probably won't get it till next monday.. i can't wait to start my mermaids... :)

USPS Has Spoken

Recently I mentioned that I had to make a choice between two Mermaid- Mermaids of Atlantis or Mermaid of the Pearls on which to start first. The US Postal Service made up my mind for me today. I finally received my linen for the Mermaid of the Pearls. Unfortunaltely the linen is a 32 ct. I have never done this count before, and believe me, it's TINY. If you hear some screaming, it's just me.

Senior Moment (Scary)

Well today I had my first senior moment. The mail arrived and I was so excited to see that my package from ABC Stitch Therapy had arrived with all the supplies I needed to start my Mermaid of Atlantis. Wasn't I in for a big surprise. Everything that showed up said Mermaid of the Pearl. I was sure that stitch therapy had messed up my order so I checked my previous correspondence with them. Not only had I ordered the wrong mermaid, but when they sent a confirmation I went ahead and paid for it without really overlooking the bill. You guessed it. I screwed up. Apparantly Mermaids of the Pearl and Mermaids of Atlantis are on the same page, one after the other. Well Mermaids of the Pearl will not go well with the Crossed Wing Woodland linen I bought so I had to order all of the Mermaids of Atlantis stuff to go with the linen.

Then I had to order some linen to go with the Mermaids of the Pearl. I ended up with Star Sapphire 32 ct. Have never worked with anything that small and I am sure I am not going to be happy about it. So anyway here is a picture of the Mermaids of the Pearl.

Very pretty and I will be happy to do it. I now have two Mermaid projects to choose from and will start whichever one of all the materials show up first. Boy it's a b---- to get old.

Mermaids Unite

These are the Mermaids that the Twisted Stitchers will be working on in the coming months.

Nicki will be working on the Queen Mermaid. Patti will be doing the Mermaid of Atlantis on Woodland linen from the Crossed Wing Collection. Sheryl will be using the Deep Blue Sea linen from the Crossed Wing Collection for her Mermaid of the Deep. Elaine will be doing the Enchanted Mermaid.

Aren't all the Mermaids gorgeous? Can't wait to see the results.

our first project together will be a Mirabilia Mermaid stitch-a-long.. we are all going to be doing different Mirabilia Mermaids.. i can't wait to see all the Mermaids as they progress..

i'm going to be doing the Mermaids of the Deep Blue...  and i want to do it on 28ct hand painted linen from crossed wings collection .. called Deep Sea...   i have cathy seeing if she can get me a piece big enough..  it may take a while for her to get it in for me... so i may have a late start on this.. but don't worry i'm a pretty fast stitcher and i'll catch up..

i'm gonna love working with all my Twisted Stitcher sisters...
